This model of the Capri was produced with the smallest engine ever offered for the Capri and was only available from launch in 1969 to 1973, and in GT form until 1971. The engine was from the MkI Escort.
The base Capri was priced at £890, which was very competitive by 1989 standards, and with the XL pack available for a little over £44 the buyer could have a well specified, if a little underpowered car for well under £1000
