The smallest engine in the Capri range was only on offer until 1982. By this time the cars were much heavier than when it was first designed. The 1300 57bhp engine was not really big enough to move 2227lb (1010Kg). As had happened with the MkI the base 1300 engine was dropped shortly after the MkIII was launched and the 1300L was the bottom of the range Capri.

The 1300 only lasted until 1982.
